Once you have your spray tan, the next thing you need to know (once you are done admiring your reflection in the mirror) is how to make it last! You want to keep your sun-kissed glow for as long as possible so knowing how to properly care for a spray tan is important.
Keep reading to find out our Wild About Tan top 5 tips on how to prolong your spray tan.
Moisturise your skin day and night to maintain your glow, the two minutes is worth it to keep yourself looking so good. Moisturising is especially important if you have dry or dehydrated skin as moisturised skin holds tan better and for longer.
2. Avoid oil-based products
Oil breaks down the DHA (colour element) in spray tan solution. This makes oil-based products great for removing tan but should be avoided at all costs if you want to make your tan last! Save these products for after your tan.
3. Shave carefully
We know that some people will want to shave whilst they are tanned, especially those fast growing areas, but remember that you will effectively be shaving the first layer of your skin where the spray tan is sitting. Using a hydrating shaving product and a sharp blade can help to protect your tan and ensure that you do not have to keep going over the same area.
Exfoliating your body BEFORE your spray tan is vital to the longevity and quality of your tan.
After your tan, you should use a body polish on day 4/5 to gently exfoliate your skin to help keep your tan locked in.
5. Use a top-up product
Now near the end of your tans life, the only way to revive it is to use a top-up tan product, but don’t fear! We have everything you need.
