We all wish our spray tans could last forever, but unfortunately, there will come a time where you feel you have to remove your tan.
Check out our 4 go-to techniques to remove a fake tan, that are kind to your skin and as natural as possible.
We would recommend using a mixture of these techniques to increase their effectiveness, especially if you want to see effects faster.
1. Exfoliate
As your spray tan sits on the first layer of your skin, using a gentle exfoliant can remove some of this first layer – especially past day 5 of your tan.
For the purpose of removing a tan, feel free to use a salt scrub or more abrasive exfoliator. Be mindful of your gorgeous skin though, going red raw is not the one. It’s good to use a washcloth or an exfoliator mitt to apply it.
2. Soak in the bath or shower
Everyone loves a long soak in the bath or a steamy shower, and now you have an excuse!
Enjoying a hot soak will slowly start to break up and remove your tan. Hot water will soften the first layer of your skin and make it easier to remove your tan.
3. Create your own exfoliant
You don’t need to buy an expensive exfoliant to do the job, some of the best products can be made at home. You know exactly what is going on your skin and ensure that you are not using any harmful chemicals.
Here is a sugar scrub recipe that you can follow:
All you need to do to create a simple sugar scrub is mix granulated sugar with a couple of drops of water (or coconut oil for a moisturising scrub) to create a paste. This paste can be used on its own or you can add your essential oil of choice, we recommend lavender, to increase that pampering feeling!
4. Use a tan remover product
